ouch

My fingers are already beginning to feel like a pin cushion and I've only been doing this blood testing thing for 24 hours. I'm concerned about what will happen once I start the Heparin shots, as if memory serves me correctly each time I prick my finger it will bleed copiously for quite some time. 4 of those per day + the actual Heparin shot and I'm likely to bleed 24 x 7.

Which finger pricker device are you using and which meter?

it's called freestyle, the hospital gave it to us saying it's one of the best - it only requires a tiny amount of blood plus it ignores things like paracetamol, aspirin etc which other devices can get confused over. they said they'd done extensive testing and found it to be the most accurate. the prickers are made by the same people.
