situps are horrible, and they can hurt your back if you're not strong enough to do them. try reverse situps first. sit on the floor with your knees bent and gradually roll down to lying, one vertebra at a time.
you'll probably find it hard to do the first time - your feet will want to come off the floor. just do ten at at time and gradually it will get easier.
(to sit back up roll to the side - don't try to come up as if you were doing a sit up)
