More on that Gig

They've still got it, Duran Duran. They still have all the energy they had back then, and they still put on a bloody good show which is updated to suit today's sound....and they manage to pull it off very well without looking like a bunch of old hasbeens.

I love the opening number at these big gigs (Air Canada Centre - massive venue, massive audience) where the crowd is going mad & the band always comes out very theatrically with a bang to get you going. Duran Duran was no exception, but they did it just right ... the venue went black, strobes went on, dry ice got sprayed, and suddenly there they were, the 5 of them, standing in a line on the edge of the front of the stage. Obviously the crowd went wild..... and they just stood there for a minute or two, like statues. We are Duran Duran. We're back.. Simple, yet very effective.

The programme was brilliant too, all the old classics (complete with lighters in the air 'Save a Prayer') and a bunch of their new stuff which is surprisingly very good.

Everyone in the audience was my in their 30's, it seemed. Everyone also seemed to be British. It didn't stop everyone from screaming and dancing like teenagers though.

And Simon Le Bon still has that hip thing going on, and he's still the complete showman. Tons of energy, lots of swearing to prove they're still rock n roll, and still looks great. John Taylor also v sexy. The others looked a bit old mind you!

Anyway, it was fab.
