We never had "Strep Throat" in the UK. It wasn't an acknowledged illness. It must've existed, but maybe just not so prevalant as here where it seems to go around like wildfire. Strep Throat is not just a sore throat, it's accompanied by a total loss of energy, swollen glands, feeling completely drained, feeling sick, dizzy, and generally bloody horrible. And very contagious... the DR diagnoses it from sitting on the other side of the room and poking a long stick toward your mouth.
The antibiotics do, at least, work fairly quickly. I feel better today than I did yesterday already.
The bad news is though, that poor little Harry is now coming down with it, or something nasty anyway. He had a very bad night - at midnight I had to change him into something cooler as he had a fever & was boiling hot. Also had to give him medicine to bring the fever down. He woke fairly regularly during the night, crying out, and had to be soothed back to sleep. Today he's not in the best of spirits. I hope he doens't have the throat thing because he can't even tell me about it and he probably feels absolutely dreadful.
