Gareth gets 4 weeks 'paternity leave' from work which is quite marvellous.
This baby arrives right at the beginning of the extremely lengthy summer holidays, which is great timing in many respects as it means that I'll have him at home to give the boys lots of attention - after my sleepless nights of nursing the baby I am going to be pretty exhausted, let alone in a position to lift 40lb Harry in and out of the car following my c-section.
G is going to be off, basically, through July. I have become a little nervous about August - an entire month before school starts with the boys at home wanting to do fun and exciting things, needing attention and energy, and me 1 month into a newborn still presumably sleeping very little and still recovering from the surgery.
I am therefore very thrilled (and feel only a little bit indulgent!) that I've asked our 15 yr old babysitter if she wants a summer job of coming over 3 or so afternoons per week to play with the boys, take them out on their bikes, do fun things with them, and generally give them some focussed energetic playtime that their mum might well not be up to doing....... and she's agreed! It's going to be such a huge help to have an extra pair of hands around the house, and the boys love her, and it's not going to cost very much either :-) Yay!
