Bums and Backs

This morning I decided that I really need to get on with potty training Harry. He is starting school in September and has to be trained by then. I think once the baby is here things will be more difficult for both of us, him wanting to be like the baby and me having even less energy than I have now (difficult though that is to believe).

Anyway - out came the potty. He's been up for about 2 and a half hours this morning and he's done 9 wee's in it! I'm going to stay in all week and really blast this one....... cross your fingers for me.

Backs - mine - VERY PAINFUL. Yesterday after painting Dylans new bedroom (I managed to talk him into a pale sea-green with a darker green for the accent wall rather than the stonking bright green he wanted. He originally dictated that he didn't want a colour from the 'adult menu' and insisted it had to be a (bright lurid) Disney colour. Thankfully I was able to talk some sense into him) I lay down on the sofa for a half an hour rest before Dylan got back from soccer - his friends Mum giving him a lift home.

When the doorbell went I tried to get up and literally could not. You know when you hear people say their back seized up so they couldn't walk -- I have never experienced it before but that's exactly what happened to me. As I tried to stand I got stabbing pains down my left side and I couldn't take a step - it was awful. I shouted that I was coming to the door..... and it took me a good couple of minutes to overcome the pain and hobble there. The pain remained for the rest of the day, not quite as bad but awful...... then after lying down on the sofa to watch TV before bedtime again I could not get up and G had to help me while I sobbed in pain. What gives????

Potty training was very frustrating for me when we began the process. So I began researching potty training and a common theme seemed to be praise and positive reinforcement. When I came across a website called www.pottytrainingrewards.com. We hung it in the kitchen and named the little boy on the front of the package, Bobby. My son could not wait to go to the potty so he could push the button, hear the praising message, and get his chocolate reward from, Bobby. It really got my son excited about using the potty himself and it was fun for him. Because he became so involved, potty training was easy. So give it a try. Good Luck!

I did much the same with my two - they each got a little sweet after they had been to the loo. Personally i hate pottys so i got them to go straight onto the toilet using one of those little soft seat things.
I didnt want them to get used to the potty and then be scared of using a 'big' toilet when we were out - or having to carry one of those portable pottys about (which i did for about a day with Xander) as that was just too gross!.
