I don't want to jinx myself but Harry is doing spectacularly well on the potty. Since we started on Monday he's been walking around with no pants on and he's not had a single accident. He's done every single wee in the potty without complaint and with a dramatic TA DA!!!!!!!! from him every time he does it. He's also done all his poo's in there too!
Poo is always more of an issue with kids for some reason - they don't like it, they don't like to see it, and it's a completely alien concept to go and do it in a potty after using a nappy all this time.
On Monday he held on and didn't go all day rather than try the potty. On Tuesday morning he was desperate, obviously uncomfortable, and still resisting. He walked into a corner and I saw him starting to go so I quickly whisked him onto the potty (with a minor amount of accidental damage on the way) and I held him on there (much to his distress) while he finished. It was a rather messy affair, to say the least, and he was pretty unhappy about it. Having said that, a couple of hours later he needed to go again and went and sat back down on the potty to do it voluntarily. He was again a little distressed and managed to get it all over the back of the seat but he did it, and he got lots of praise.
Today he simply walked up to the potty, plonked himself down, and did it with 100% success and 0% mess. I'm so proud of him!
The next challenge of course, is going to be getting underwear on him and getting him to go on the potty. I'm going to start that tomorrow.
