I'm so impressed with Harry!
In the end after writing that blog entry yesterday I figured I'd try him with underwear. Even though it had only been 2 successful days on the potty he had obviously grasped the idea so why wait. It was about 11am.
I have a wealth of 'character' underwear for his age for some reason - Thomas underwear, Blues Clues underwear, Cars the movie underewear (those I bought specially for H), and he was extremely impressed when I introduced that first pair to him - the pair with Lightning McQueen on. He pranced around in them extremely proudly.
10 mins later he wee'd everywhere. I reassured him that this was OK and he was very upset to see his underwear go. I got him another pair of Lightning McQueen ones out.... big smiles again. 20 mins later they too were wet through. On to the third pair. As he'd just done a wee I figured I could safely jump in the shower. Big mistake. Came back to wee all over the floor. Next pair goes on and despite his usual 'every 20 mins' routine he then refused to go for an hour despite my asking him continually. We had to pick Dylan up from school at 1.30 so I was really worried that he would wee in the car, but he was having none of it. I ended up putting him in some shorts and putting a pad on the car seat and drove up to the school expecting disaster.
Amazingly though, he didn't wee. And when we got home, demanded that we "quick! take my trousers off!" so that he could use the potty. And so went the rest of the day - they had to come all the way off, down is no good, but he was brilliant - even going downstairs to play when some friends came over for a playdate and then rushing back up for the potty when he needed a wee! He totally got it :)
Next step, can we leave the house? I have bought one of those toilet seats which he's not impressed with so I need to get him used to that so that we can use public loo's if we're out.
