American Mothers day today. Have had a reasonable weekend with ups and downs.
Yesterday G was, as usual, working on the house and I was, as usual, on kid duty. G was and in & out of the front door sawing wood and D asked to go outside to play. It's a safe area, he's a sensible boy, and our drive is quite big.. and G was there every 5 mins so I said yes. G then came upstairs and announced that he was going to Home Depot. I asked him to check on D on the way out and tell him he had to come in in. So off G went.
10 mins later I realised D hadn't come in so I went outside to tell him and there was no sign of him anywhere. I went up the drive looking for him, calling him, and there was no response. I came back frantic and wondered if he had gone with G, but couldn't imagine G taking him without letting me know... so I called G and got no answer. I got more & more frantic and called him every 30 seconds for the next half an hour by which time I was seriously considering calling the police. I have never been so worried in my life. Finally, G arrives home with D .... omg what a relief and I think I cried for about an hour so grateful that he was there and hadn't been abducted or something. Ugh, makes me go cold to think about it. Needless tos say G will not do that again in a hurry.
Last night G and I went out which was a welcome relief from a week of being imprisoned at home. Usually all we can manage is flopping infront of a movie when we go out at weekends but as I had not seen any sign of life or other adults in a week we decided to hit the upscale mall near us, where I got new shoes and some more bits for the babies room. It was nice to have a wander. Following the shopping we went for an amazing steak at Ruth Chris steakhouse (v expensive).
Today the boys surprised me in bed with a very large balloon, some flowers, and a card..... which was lovely. The rest of the day has gone the way of the rest of the week though - G doing DIY and me looking after the boys, so not much change there! Still, we are on a deadline for that room because my sis is going to be sleeping in it when she comes next month!
