Had a great weekend camping and tomorrow we're off again to the San Juan Islands for a few days.
While we're there it'll be my birthday which this year I am completely ignoring. No presents as we are skint. No disappointment!
More importantly, G is currently at the ER with Harry. He fell yesterday & hurt his mouth and today his whole cheek has swollen more & more so we think we need to get it checked. It might be that we have to cancel our trip away if he needs some kind of urgent treatment?
*UPDATE*
Harry may or may not have broken his cheekbone but the only way to tell is to do a CAT scan and if it did show that he had broken it, they wouldn't necessarily do anything right now.....so they decided not to put him through the radiation at this point & we'll see how he does over the next few days.
Sorry about that. Life gets a bit hectic sometimes!
We had Andrew over from the UK last week. One of our favourite visitors - we always have a good laugh for one, and secondly he comes and is happy to chip in with the kids and everything else! We had a laugh speaking 'Coalville' all week, blasting ABBA tunes out of the car, going to Mt Rainier, going out to the cinema a lot and enjoying extremely hot weather.
Harry took to Andrew like a shadow as he does with everyone but what really surprised me was Tabitha who also LOVED him and would cry if he tried to hand her back to me! It was the first time really that she's ever been with anyone else without me present for short periods (like he would take her into another room for 20 mins or stay with her while I fetched Harry from camp) and she was totally fine with it. This is an amazing turnaround after being soooooooo clingy for the last month or two that she wouldn't even go to G!
This week I have our babysitter helping me out in the afternoons and once again Tab has taken to someone else brilliantly. The last couple of days she's been down in the playroom with the babysitter for 2 hours at a time (while I cleaned!) and not cried for me at all. I am really hopeful that this means once school starts in 2 weeks (dreading it) I will be able to start using the gym again and putting her in the daycare for an hour without her being all traumatised. It also means that when our babysitter comes in the evenings, if and when Tab inevitably wakes up, she'll be good to be comforted by her and I won't have to come home. Here's hoping anyway.
We're off in the caravan again this weekend - we're going up just below the Canadian border with some friends, should be fun if the bloody weather improves. After 100+ degrees last week it's pissed down all week so far. One of my runner bean pots is so full of water that it's overflowing and not draining.
I'm being a bit slack updating this of late. Mostly because the summer keeps me on my toes looking after these 3 and I have little time to spend at the computer!
So what's new.
Firstly, Dylan is back! I'm so glad to have him home! He had a great time in Boston, he was looked after very well and kept very busy doing fun and exciting things. He was so brave flying off on his own like that and really dealt with the whole thing admirably! We had tears when he arrived back (both of us!). I'm sure he'll want to do it again next year, he loved being so grown up! It was amazing how much I realised he helps me while he was gone, he's such a kind boy and he does so much for me with his brother & sister........ even simple things like watching them for 2 mins so that I can go to the bathroom......without him here not so easy! And conversation, he & I talk so much that when he's not here it's like I have nobody to talk to.
Harry is keeping me very amused at the moment. His language is coming along in leaps and bounds lately and he is just looking so much more grown up too. His conversational skills are improving by the second and often surprise me! He's still fiercely independent, won't kiss without wiping it off! What really amazes me with him though is his imagination. He is not interested in TV or video games but will sit and make up wonderful stories and scenarios and act them out with his cars or other toys. Right now he & G are building a Playmobile Farm which he had for his birthday and he's getting so much joy from it, it really warms my heart.
Tab is ill. Again. I am not sure if it's teeth, a virus, or another ear infection. We were supposed to see the ENT surgeon yesterday for the tubes in her ears but there was an issue with the health insurance & we had to cancel. Now I have to wait for another referral - grrr. She's still incredibly mummy clingy but she's showing a new comprehension and understanding for the world around her which is fascinating to observe. She gets far more than we think she does! She's starting to point to things she wants and her babbling is sounding more & more coherent. She loves Harry's toy cars despite my best efforts to interest her in pink and girly things.
In other news - my neighbour nearly killed my runner beans while we were in California so I've been nurturing them over the last couple of weeks trying to bring them back. I fed them plant food last week and thankfully they seem to be perking up. They are much greener and starting to thicken up and grow again. I'll feed them again tonight.
G bought a pressure washer - the worlds most noisy, gas powered, highest pressure thing, apparently it can even strip paint. We washed down the caravan (being careful not to blast a hole through it!) and yesterday we started cleaning the deck which changed to another colour entirely it was obviously so skanky.
I've started Weight Watchers and I'm amazed with it. I've already lost 4.5lb over 2 weeks and I haven't felt even remotely restricted by what I'm eating. I have been using a recipe book to cook from & we've consequently eaten far more healthily than usual but I haven't had to cut anything out and don't feel the usual obsession with what I can't have that I've had with previous more restrictive diets. Another 1203948032948lb to go.
Tomorrow Andrew arrives from the UK so it'll be a fun week ahead!
